What is Evaporative Cooling?
An evaporative cooler creates cold air by evaporating water into the air stream within the unit. The air stream is then usually ducted into homes and commercial spaces that require cooling. Evaporative cooling systems use cooling pads and a fan to achieve the evaporation process. These pads consist of a cellulose material that lasts up to ten years in a good water area, such as Canberra and its immediate surrounding districts. However, this is dependent upon your getting your system serviced at intervals as suggested by your manufacturer.

Evaporative coolers work well in Canberra's hot, dry summer climate, and come in a variety of colours to suit your roof. Meanwhile, the much lower electricity use of an evaporative cooler compared to a refrigerant-based system, as well as the fact an evaporative cooler doesn't use refrigerant gases, makes them a more environmentally sustainable choice (various commonly-used refrigerant gases contribute to global warming if they leak).
